Assessment and Grades

Assessment at the Vanuatu Agriculture College is used to assist the trainers in ensuring students hold a high level of knowledge and skills in the area being assessed. Students will be assessed using two methods:

Formative: Assessment which takes place throughout the course. The aim of this type of assessment is to provide feedback to the trainers as to identify gaps in the learning program.

Summative: Assessment which is conducted at the end of a particular topic or skill set. Summative assessment provides the grade associated to a particular topic or skill set. Competency based assessment follows the grading scale below in table 1.

At VAC we understand that not everyone learns the same way, therefore, our courses allow for assessment based on the multiple modes of learning and assessment, including video, oral presentations, research reports, essays, practical demonstration, brainstorming, posters, data analysis, and many others.
